The Giants aren’t just sitting on their hands this week. In for a visit today: the eminent Corey Hulsey.
Who?
Corey Hulsey, 6-4, 325-pound backup guard/tackle for the Raiders. They can actually use the guy, since it looks like last year’s interior backup, Grey Ruegamer, is headed elsewhere. I’m hoping to find out just where that might be later today.
Hulsey, meanwhile, is the kind of depth player that’s left on the open market. Not a lot desirable out there. He’s only got 12 starts in 34 games since 2001, but might be good enough and cheap enough.
His agent, Bob Lattinville, said he’s headed out to Detroit early next week, and Oakland has an interest in re-signing him. But he said Hulsey had a wonderful visit with the Giants.
For all you Frank Walker fans out there—both of you—say adios.
The backup to the backup, backup cornerbacks signed a one-year deal with the Packers this morning. Now he can draw cheap personal foul penalties in the nice, cold weather. The Giants wouldn’t have re-signed him for two cents, let alone the veteran minimum, after he fell deep into Tom Coughlin’s doghouse following the meltdown against the Titans. Walker spent the last two games and the playoff game on the inactive list, to no one’s surprise.
Ciao for now.

GUYS,
FRANK WALKER IS A FRIEND OF MINE, FRANK CAN REALLY COVER. ALL HE NEEDED WAS MORE PLAYING TIME, IM HIS PARTNER IN VIRGINIA BEACH,
STEVE AND ROMEDIAS
VIRGINIA BEACH
Coughlin and Lewis should never given worthless Corey Webster a job without letting Frank Walker compete for a job. Apparently they held grudges against him for penalties and “undisciplined play.” The entire Giants team-
both offense and defenseplayed without discipline much of the time. The coaches should at some point take some responsibility (by actually taking reponsibility, not just by firing coaches as scapegoats). Walker made some big plays-including picks against the Bucs (for a touchdown on MNF a couple years back) and against the Steelers. He always tried hard and showed a lot of heart whether he was on the sidelines (often not dressed to play because guys like Terry Cousin, Corey Webster, et al. got on the field instead) or playing. He will thrive in Green Bay working across the field from Charles Woodson. I’ve been a Giants fan since I can remember and I will continue to remain one for the rest of my life, but I hope Walker makes a big play that hurts the Giants someday. He’ll prove himself in Green Bay.I know for a fact he had more fans that you’re giving him credit for. Watching Will Allen, Will Peterson, Terry Cousin, Corey Webster, etc, underachieve for the last couple of years made a number of fans wish that Coughlin and/or Lewis would give Frank a chance. I love your blog, but I’m willing to bet that Frank Walker has more fans than your blog has readers.
Thanks for keeping Giants fans informed.

Guys:
Didn’t realize old Frank had such vehement supporters. You’re entitled to your opinions, definitely, and they are always welcomed and accepted here, no matter what I may believe. So don’t stop reading the blog. But Walker was way too undisciplined for my money. What’s the good of all the skills in the world if, at the critical moment, you have to hold your breath and pray he wouldn’t do something stupid? I think that’s what caused Coughlin to bury him deep in the depth chart.
I do agree, though, that there needs to be something done about the secondary. But Frank Walker as an answer? I don’t think so.
Frank Walker was horrendous. Are you guys serious?? He was hit or miss and usually miss. He wasn’t even in the same breath as the Wills (and they were just avg) or even as good as the likes of Emauel McDaniel (great int vs Minn) Walker was the last guy on the roster. Gone with the Tim carters of the world. I am glad to here he has enthusiasim for the game and always played hard but he wasn’t a productive Giant.
please don’t blame the coaches for that..
Frank Walker can cover what? A Beatles tune? A bed?
Frank was good for two things—blowing a coverage, and picking up a stupid penalty to make things worse.
Frank Walker was an accident waiting to happen.
And it happened too often.
As they say in Tittletown USA…oops…
Titletown USA…on that frozen tundra
of legendary Lambeau Field….MUSH!
