New Parking Policy

Let the inconvenience begin.
Because of 5,000 parking spaces that will bite the dust as the new Meadowlands football stadium rises out of the Giants Stadium parking lot, the Giants have instituted a pre-paid, permit-only parking policy designed to encourage car-pooling. And if you don’t have a permit, be prepared to jump on a shuttle for a two-mile ride from off-site parking lots.
The permits will cost $150 total for the eight regular season and two preseason games, which averages out to $15 per game. That’s the same amount fans who parked on the stadium side of the Meadowlands paid last year, but a $5 hike for season-ticket holders who parked on the arena side.
Anyone who doesn’t have a permit will be directed to the off-site lots and a shuttle ride.
You’ll have to plan on car-pooling, since the permits—at $150 per—will be doled out on a graduated scale based on the number of tickets in one’s account.
Here’s the breakdown:
Accounts with 1-5 tickets: One permit.
6-10 tickets: Two permits.
11-15 tickets: Three permits.
16-20 tickets: Four permits.
21-25 tickets: Five permits.
26 or more tickets: Six permits.
Details on the shuttle bus schedule and route are still being worked out.
The policy will be in effect until the new stadium opens, which is expected in 2010.
Ciao for now.

best thing in to world to happen.
previously there were legions of fans that had no tickets to the games that tailgated taking up numerous spots.
actual tickholders, not in the reserved lots then had to scramble for spots.
now, if you’re a season ticket holder, you prepay for spots and if you’re not, then you can tailgate at the off-site lots which should be no problem as they don’t go to the game anyway.
My friends and I split 10 tickets. We come from all points of the compass to meet at our tailgate party. The fact that we’ll only have two parking permits will put a major inconvenience into our organization and travel plans. I’ve also seen the shuttle bus system as it has “worked” in recent years and there will be nothing but problems.
Is there anyone who takes the bus or parks outside willing to sell their parking permits? I need two extra permits per game. Please respond – you will be assisting the Chef!!
