Gametime Decision

September
21

Looks like wide receiver Plaxico Burress will be a gametime decision after taking just half a practice today.

Burress missed the first two days entirely with his sprained right ankle. But he did say he’d be back for the game. Right now he’s questionable, but there’s a good chance he’ll at least start Sunday against the Redskins.

How long he’ll be able to go is the question. A quarter? A half? Anything short of a full game would certainly be detrimental to the Giants’ offense, considering his four touchdown catches not only lead the team, but co-lead the league with Carolina’s Steve Smith as well.

If he has to come out, the Giants will be relegated to using Sinorice Moss or Anthony Mix opposite Amani Toomer. That will create other problems, given neither of those guys are particularly experienced. It’s significant, too, that injured rookie Steve Smith had beaten out Moss in training camp for the third receiver spot.

It’s not a good situation for an offense trying to equalize a struggling defense.

Thoughts?

Ciao for now.

Plaxico is a matchup problem for every opponent. He is really that good. If he is limited in anyway, this offense comes to a grinding halt—like the 2nd half of the Green Bay game. Some people are picking this week as a spot for the Giants to register a W for the 1st time. I don’t see it.

As much as Plaxico is lambasted for his sour attitude at times, I still think he is not utilized enough by the Giants. He is so tall and has very good hands, that every time a ball is thrown his way and has a chance, he either catches it or no one gets it. He has matched up against short inexperienced guys many times, and Eli just doesn’t throw enough his way (esp near the goal). I’d take my chances on Plaxico in tight coverage any day over Shockey’s hands and penalties. It’ll be a big loss if Plaxico can’t play.

Can Ward catch? Can either of the tackles catch? Can Eli throw to himself? Is it OK to laugh at funerals?

    Cooley’s open already!

I hope Burress has a bad game I hope he ends up
with 25 catches and 10 fumbles. when will the giants
ever wear pink uniforms? that would look great.
I hope they loose this week 38 to 14.

if the giants loose which would be a great day what
would be there magic number be for not making the playoffs?
If they loose they would be 0 and 3.

I’m already sick of this team.

The players are complete clowns who have absolutely no self discipline or pride.

The injuries are completely insane and tiresome at this point.

They are already teetering on the point of nobody in the public caring about what they say, how they play, or what they do until 2008.

If the Giants lose tomorrow, the pathetic parking
fiasco at Giants Stadium will become less and less
of a problem as the season then drones on.

Unless they turn it around, for many it will be “No-Show Sundays” for a good part of the remaining schedule.

In that event, the shrinking crowd would mimic the
    defense in being No-Shows.

Obviously I want Plax to play but I will also say that I really like Mix who is almost Plax body double and if we had to have him in there I wouldnt mind. Ideally we would use Mix as our #3 next to Amani and Plax and I dont think we’d skip a beat.
