Just Another Thought

October
24

Second—round receiver Steve Smith looked good catching passes. I’m thinking he could be back Sunday, which would mean he could slip back into that No. 3 receiver spot ahead of the ineffective Sinorice Moss. The passing game could use Smith, who caught four passes before fracturing his shoulder blade against Green Bay. He had a wonderful preseason and looked like the goods.

It wouldn’t be hard to move him up. They could put tight end Kevin Boss on the inactive list. They might not need more than two tight ends for this game. And if they need another blocker up front to get Shockey free, they could always throw fullback Madison Hedgecock up there.

Just a thought. What would you do, move Smith up or let him sit and give him the bye week to make sure of a full recovery?

Ciao for now.

I hope to see a dominant run game, so sit Smith, let him heal and don’t give Dallas anymore game tape. Not that I’ll complain Smith plays and lights up the fins.

Sit him. Easy decision. Steve Smith is not going to be the difference in this game. We should blow them out if he plas or not. I’d rather a 100% Smith be a factor in a huge NFC East battle against 1st place Dallas against that poor secondary where he can make a play to help in a potential victory. I know in the NFL there are no “gimmie wins”, but this is about as close as it gets. Smith should be a spectator this week…

Or they could dump Hixon which has been a useless pickup since he’s come in.

  4. Jared Lorenzen's double chin

I’d rest Smith & Ward for the entire game and Plax, once the Giants establish a decent lead. Anyone with a nagging injury should be rested up for Dallas.

Give the Fins big doses of Jacobs & Droughns, with a goodly helping of Toomer and Shockey and let the defense go biserk on Cleo and Co and the Giants s/be just fine.

I’m still worried about team jet lag.

  6. Death to Romo

If he is healthy, we should play him. Let’s see what this kid can do!

P.S. Gianthinker – I guess you don’t care about special teams because Hixon has been one of our best tacklers on the coverage units.

Death To Romo- You stole the words out of my mouth about Hixon!

save smith for dallas. sinorice looks like a total bust. Tim Carter was a better wr than this guy. i had such great visions of him running from the slot where i thought he would be unstoppable. he is just not a pro.

“Or they could dump Hixon which has been a useless pickup since he’s come in.”

    no he’s not

he has already made a bunch of special team tackles, never fumbles kick returns and can be a wr if they want to use him that way. i’ve seen him in college he is a fine wr.

    Team Jet lag?

    They are 1-6…..

    he he he

    Good one, Russ.
