Airhorn Alert

October
30

WHAAAAAAA!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAA!!!! WHAAAAAAAAA!!!

In honor of Antonio Pierce, this is an airhorn alert for a new poll. Simply, it’s grade the Giants at the midpoint. Use whatever criteria you wish and give them a grade in the poll on the right. Then, come back here and tell me your rationale for the grade.

It’s just like the first-quarter grading poll, only I’m hoping more will vote now that the Giants have put hope into their season with their first six-game winning streak since the end of the 1994 season. Can’t wait to read the results.

We’ll leave this up until Friday so everyone gets a chance to exercise their rights.

I’m telling ya, you don’t get this stuff at Buckingham Palace!

Ciao for now.

everyone had us at 4-12 for the year
we are 6-2 at the halfway point…i expected 5-3 4-4…....6-2 is amazing..if you told me 6-2 by midpoint i think every giant fan would sign up and almost any nfl team (minus the pats and colts)

QB- B- Still needs to cut down on mistakes, but looks more confident

RB- B+ Pleasant surprise considering the injuries

O-Line A The anchor that will make or break this season. We need to pray for their health

WR/TE- B Should be an A, but cant excuse 20+ dropped passes.

DB’s- B- Madison is the key, he needs to stay healthy. Save for the young Ross, we are really thin at Corner.

Safety play has been solid, not spectacular. Gibril is playing very well and Johnson did a nice job in London.

LB- C Mitchell and Kiwi are improving, but Pierce is the key.

DL/DE Osi, Stray Tuck are playing lights out. Cofield and Robbins need to play the run better in the second half.

Specials-D Weakest part of out team by a mile.
Tynes is a nightmare, our snappers are shaky and coverage teams stink.

Need to see more of Bradshaw in the return game to spark this team.

Coaching B Coughlin doing a good job of keeping penalties down from last year and the players seem to respect him more.
Gilbride is an enigma…His play calling can be brilliant at times (Dallas game) and horrific at times (Miami)
He needs to temper his enthusiasm and needs to play smarter.

“He needs to temper his enthusiasm and needs to play smarter.”

This comment should have been attached to Pierce above.

B- I Will Give Them An A When I See More Of A Consistant Effort Through Out 60 Mins. Of Football.

I will give them around a B. They had a rough first two games. The defense really turned it around but we haven’t played great teams and haven’t been tested seriously. The offense, I like the fact it’s more diverse but Eli has needs to be more consistent. The game against Dallas will really show me what this team is about.

Most didn’t think the Ginats would be very good this year. However, I did think they could makes some noise. That said, they still have not yet beaten a good team. That’s why I can’t honestly give them an A. If they had beaten either the Packers or the Cowboys, it would easily have been an A at the mid-point of the season. It’s a B from me…

    finkle good insight..

qb B needs to make better decisions.. need to be more accurate..

rB b+ they need to play hurt..

offensive line AAAA all you could expect.

    Receivers B Plaxico AAAAAAAAAAAAA

kicker C- (may be a problem)

    punter B+

Special teams c good returns very inconsistent coverage….

    D Line A especially Tuck..

LB B Solid.. what is going on with Pierce and the roughing penalties..

Secondary C+ Thank god for the D line.. Ross doing fine.. Webster stinks…...

    Mid season report card
QB—C+...Eli needs to go to a Pro Bowl to shut up his critics. In a year where many QB’s are playing at a low level, this was a good year to do it…Guess what? He won’t make it…again…Favre and Romo have it locked up…Others are playing as well as Eli, and with Eli’s rep around the league, no one is gonna vote him in…he needed to get there on performance…

RB—B+....who is this Tiki guy we’ve heard of?

OL—A+...8 sacks with a “Guard playing LT” and averaging over 130 yards on the ground? Snee and Diehl HAVE to be in Hawaii this year, right?

WR—B…For the starters only. Plaxico is doing this on one ankle and Toomer really tore his ACL last year?...Smith needs to get 100% because Moss is a bust

TE—C+...can somebody tell Gilbride he has a Pro Bowl TE on the roster to use? And can that TE not drop a pass again. Matthews has hands like feet, but he can block

DL—A…strength of the team…Osi AND Tuck to the PB? I like the DT’s, but am worried about them wearing down like last year

LB’s—C…but only because of the 1st 2 games. Mitchell is invisible and Kiwi is great going forward…Someone has to at least knock down a pass to a TE….Pierce is playing well, minus his personal fouls lately

DB’s—I can’t believe I am giving them a B…Madison is playing like he did in Miami and Ross has proved me wrong for killing him on draft day…the Safeties stink in coverage…I am going to go out n a limb and say we pick a Safety in round one in April to complement Wilson…

  9. Rich

Also, for me to be 100% sure this team can succeed this year and beyond, they HAVE to beat Dallas…this franchise has been dying for that “statement” game victoty for years and every chance we have had lately, the team has lost (like last year’s Bear game)...A win next week and this team’s perception across the league will change….

  10. Paul

Combined record of the teams they played in the first half of the year 22-34
Combined record of the teams they will play in the second half of the year 34-24

As one dandelion said to the other, “Eat, drink and be merry because tomorrow they mow the lawn.”
