Don’t Expect Sam

January
4

Tom Coughlin confirmed that Sam Madison sat out the entire practice for a third straight day. With Kevin Dockery taking only very limited work, it’s a better than 80 percent chance that Corey Webster will be starting at right corner Sunday. Also, R.W. McQuarters let it slip that Webster will be there. Makes sense, only because Dockery’s hip-flexor is another slow-healing injury.

Funny sight in the locker room. Plaxico Burress hung up a quote about him from Ronde Barber above his locker. The quote, written mostly in bold-faced letters, was a backhanded compliment in a way, saying, “Plaxico is kind of a special athlete. It’s not that he’s overly fast or real, like Randy Moss, athletic, because that’s just not his game.” It ended, in smaller, normal print, “But he’s a (beast) to deal with.”

Burress said he put it up there for his teammates to see, thinking it would be funny. “I just put it up there so my teammates would see what he thinks about me,” Burress said. “I’ll take it. We’ll see what happens.”

Now, don’t start thinking this is going go jack up Burress, or anybody else, more than they are already. This is the playoffs afterall. One would think a guy who played through a sprained ankle all year and still led the team with 70 catches for 1,025 yards and 12 touchdowns wouldn’t need words to motivate him for the a playoff game. And they’d be right.

Let’s face it. Anyone in the league who does need extra motivation for this week
probably needs to find another line of work.

Ciao for now.

o god corey webster starting at corner u gotta be f******g kidding me… this really sux we better get a hall of fame effort form the line or were screwed

  3. giants fan

heres the official injury report looks like madison and o hara will not play even tho they r making the trip:

doubtful:cornerback Sam Madison (stomach) and center Shaun O’Hara (knee).
Questionable: cornerbck Kevin Dockery( hip flexor) linebacker Kawika Mitchell( knee)Dave Tollefson ( concussion)
probable: RB Ahmad Bradshaw (calf), wide receiver Plaxico Burress (ankle), tight end Mike Matthews (illness) and wide receiver Sinorice Moss (back).

heres some good news bucs star linebacker cato june who leads the bucs linebackers in pass coverage is listed as doubtful with a broken foot hopefully that will weaken there stout pass coverage a bit

i think everyone is over hyping the giants injury situation.

    1. they have a great backup center in reguemer. yes he is no ohara but hes good enough and with his experience hes good enough to get by with for one game, especially against a really small d line.

    2. yes its sad corey webster will be starting but who died and left sam madison god, yes by far his best year as a giant but the only reason the pass coverage has gotten better is the pass rush, so if the pass rush is on then u can put pope and mcquaters back there with tony saragusa has the nickle and well be fine, if the pass rush doesnt come to play then well all be leavin the bars by halftime.

    3. yes mitchell was playing his best ball has an nfl player and he single handeling helped win the buffalo game but gerris wilkenson was gonna be the starter if he didnt get hurt hes a good player and i honestly think now with a week of preparation and practice he may even be a step up from mitchell.

so all giants fans dont worry about inuries its part of the game it happens, and the injuries r nowhere as bad as last year or the year before. i mean now ur all second guessing playing the starters but come on that game was nuts most FUN i had at a giants game in awhile the team really fought and played hard so now that we lost and have a few injuries u cant go around saying wat a dumb move cuz every new yorker was going bonkers saturday nite it felt like a playoff game in the medowlands and im im glad that the giants played that way, it surely got them ready for sunday. now to the point jacobs runs like crazy burres catches 5 passes for 71 yards and a td boss catches 2 passes for 11 yards and a Td and bradshaw gives us a good change of pace, and here it is corey webster intercepts a big 4th quater pass and settles down after a shaky first quater as the pass rusher finally gets past a young oline and into the face of garcia PREDICTION” giants down early and again late in the 4th but prevail: GIANTS 31- BUCS 25

    gmen number1,

thats very true but were talking about corey webster aaron ross rw mcquatrs and geofrey pope in a playoff game. i mean maybe if dockery plays ill feel alil better but rite now im feeling like injuries r gonna screw us over again

  7. nud

losing your #1 corner before a playoff game is rough. Could cost us? but I think the Giants feel they can handle the Bucs and have a healthier Madison for next weeks game. No O’Hara and Sam means other will have the chance to shine….Gmen win comfortably

  8. Paul

    Mistakes will decide the game.

  9. Del 85

Madison, O’Hara and Mitchell are all making the trip
to Tampa. So there is a chance one of them, or Dockery,
will play, at least for a time.

Ruegamer can be OK, and so can Wilkinson at LB.

Webster is scary, but if the pass rush does a good
job, it could compensate for any weaknesses of Webster.

The turnover ratio is what is really troublesome here.
If the Giants are careful with the ball, and if the
“good” Giants show up, they can win by 7-10 points.

  10. joe 54

its a playoff game and since all 4 of them r making the trip one must think either dockery or madison r going to suit up. and i really think mitchell will be out there all be it in a limited role but he will play becasue hes returning to florida were he grew up and played college ball. he was asked to purchase 20 plus tickets by close relatives i bet he plays. if i had to guess i think dockery madison and mitchell suit up dockery and mitchell played limited but fairly extensively and madison tries to give it a go but plays rather sparingly

  11. Paul

Does suiting up for the game mean anything? If they don’t suit up can other players be substituted? If not, Coughlin might just want TB to be unclear about who is going to play (anything for an advantage)even after the game begins. If other players can be substituted then it could be a combination of Coughlin not having confidence in the substitutes and his desire to keep TB thinking.

  12. joe 54

    paul:

subs can not be added? which is y there is an inactive list if u keep all the players active that is like playing down 5 players on the 53 man roster because u cant play them cuz there hurt and u cant sub new players because then u will go over the 53 man limit. this is y a coach must declare players inactive 1 hour before kickoff so he can dress other guys to play in the injured players absence. for example this week there was probaly 58 men on the plane to tampa not all will dress if dockery or madison cant play then geofrey pope will be activated to play in there place if not hell be on the sidelines in street cloths. they probaly have a lineman also in case o hara cant go. all in all u cant have more then 53 men in uniform on the sideline so that is y u have an inactive list and cant dress everyone and y one must really think if an ijnured player could do better then the potential sub cuz in some cases u may not have one.
