The Giants blog for Lower Hudson Valley fans.

Sorry

January
17

Haven’t gotten to you guys in a while. Busy day.

Here’s the injury stuff. CB Kevin Dockery was the only Giant who didn’t practice at all. I wouldn’t expect him unless he can get in at least some team drills before Sunday.

I’m not hopeful about Sam Madison either, since he’s only taking limited practice. I think Tom Coughlin said it best when he indicated Madison could only play if he could move without limitation. With a strained abdominal, that’s going to be hard to do. Besides, all your speed and leg strength comes from the core, so I’m not optimistic about him.

Do expect to see Aaron Ross out there wearing a light harness around his dislocated right shoulder, as he took limited work but an increased load from yesterday. Kareem McKenzie (ankle) and Plaxico Burress (ankle) will start as usual.

Now, about these cheap-shot assertions from the Green Bay defensive players. One word. WHAAAAAAAA! If a guy does you wrong, stand up and belt him. Otherwise, shut up and play. I don’t doubt the Giants get into mischief after the whistle. Everybody does. As Antonio Pierce told me today, “If you’re going to stand around a pile like an idiot, you’re going to get hit.”

Hey, it’s all fun and games until somebody loses an eye, right? Anyway, get a full rundown on the Giants’ take on all this in tomorrow’s Journal News, courtesy of yours truly.

And while you’re at it, please continue to check out the “Green Bay”:http://www.packersnews.com/includes/newspaper/blogs/insider/index.shtml take on their blogs. And, hey, just a gentle reminder. If any of our cheesehead friends check in with us, please be courteous. They’re not used to our way of saying hello.

Ciao for now.

i think madison will play obvisously he wont take a full load practice the guy has missed 3 weeks, hes going threw meetings and walk threws and just trying to understand the game plan with least amount of hitting as possible. hes a vet just like strahan these guys dont need to always practice. this week is do or die, i expect madison to play as long as he can defend himself.

Someone who was at practice said Madison only took a few reps. “He was basically just going through the motions,” the person said. “Tomorrow will be a pretty good test for him.”

If Madison plays, the person said he will likely work as the corner in nickel and dime situations with Corey Webster and Aaron Ross likely remaining the starters.

idk about neone else but thats kinda a hint as to wat the giants r thinking and how they think madison will help out. madison in the nickle is a huge upgrade. i dont think madison needs to be forced into a starting role because ross and webster have been playing well. adding madison to the nickle and pushing rw to the dime is a huge upgrade from pope. madison in thje nickle will help out the giants in an un precedented amount because unlike the cowboys the packers will spread the giants out and kill us in 4 wide sets eating up pope. this is good news i may sleep a lil better tomm and not having dreams of geofrey pope getting burnt. GO GIANTS

The GB paper implied that the Packers may keep more players in the backfield to slow down the Giant rush. Tougher to reach Favre, but not as many receivers to cover.

The rushers have to do a better job of trying to block Favre’s passes and/or blocking his sightlines.

I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaack! And I still hate Michael Strahan. But I’d love it if Brett Favre would lay down for him again on Sunday night.

Ernie-Did you hear anything on this?————————————————-
Justin Tuck was signed to a 5 year – $30 million contract extension. The deal is expected to be finalized sometime Friday or Saturday as it appears Reese realizes the strategy to build this team into a championship contender on a yearly basis is to lock up the young core players such as Tuck.

I think this is a great job by Reese if its true. I was afraid Tuck would leave for a starting gig somewhere else if Strahan kept coming back.
