Let The Fun Begin

January
26

Just had a fun, fun interview with Giants vice president Steve Tisch on the practice field. The Hollywood producer told us that many celebrities expect to make the trip from Los Angeles to Phoenix either for the tail end of the week or at least for the game. I’m hoping Cameron Diaz is one of them. I asked Steve if he could get me a date with her, and he told me she actually thought of that first. How excited am I?

Anyway, we got to talking about how the Giants’ playoff run has been like a movie. So I asked him who he would cast in various roles. Here’s his list. Tell me if you agree.

Tom Coughlin—Ed Harris
Eli Manning—Leonardo DiCaprio
Michael Strahan—Will Smith
Antonio Pierce—Jamie Foxx
Yours truly—Peter Falk

Just to put your minds at ease, I told him emphatically that if I play myself, I won’t do nude—unless I get paid extra. He seemed disappointed.

Talking about getting paid, he said extension talks with Coughlin would happen “organically.”

“There’s no pressure on us now,” Tisch said. “If things go well Sunday, he’ll certainly be enjoying the benefits of victory.”

Not that Coughlin needs to win the Super Bowl to get a healthy extension, though. Win or lose, he’ll be signing a new deal “over the next few weeks,” according to Tisch.

And he doesn’t expect a major hangup in the talks, either.

“Put it this way, of the things I’m worried about, that’s not one of them,” Tisch said.

Okay. Gotta get ready for my closeup.

Ciao for now.

    hahahahahahah

That’s some funny stuff there, Ernie!

  2. TD

Now tell him to stop trying to get himself into every camera angle that he can find. He’s starting to be too much like Jerry Jones. That’s the last thing the Giants need.

  3. dallasdave!

Ernie, one casting correction. You would be played by James Gandolfini (sp?). The end of the movie would be your character beating up LT in a dark alley somewhere in New York. Don’t know why, just because!

I definitely agree with TD. Steve Tisch should
learn a little class from the Maras.

Too much “Jerry Jones” in him right now.

  5. Gmen2006

Steve Tisch is a guy that takes away from the classiness of the organization. Wellington Mara would never be seen on the sidelines during a game and would never blather on and on in from of live TV cameras. Mara rarely spoke in public but when he did, he was greatly respected. Steve Tisch, this is not about you, this will never be about you and really, it was never about your father either. Please shut up!

One more thing; the only stars that I want to see on the sidelines are former Giant players like LT, Frank Gifford, Phil Simms, Harry Carson, etc. If you want to see movie stars, hang out outside of The Ivy in LA or watch the Oscars.

Hey gmen2006 I think you need to download the newest version. The star talk had nothing to do with the sidelines. It was a joke! And yeah, LT should definitely be on the sidelines. Maybe he could get Eli hooked on crack or beat up Tynes next time he misses a fieldgoal. Or better yet, Phil Simms could talk “Phil”osophy with Coughlin. Learn to laugh you old prude!

wuld kiwanuka be able to play if they kept him on the roster ernie

    Giants fan:

I assume you’re talking hypothetically, because he’s on IR and ineligible to play at any rate. But physically, no, he wouldn’t be able to play. A broken fibula typically takes about three months to heal, so unless he’s a miracle healer, he’d still be several weeks away from actually starting work. I haven’t seen him since he’s been on IR, so I assume he hasn’t been able to do anything in terms of running or some such thing.

Dallas Dave is as OTL as Jerry Jones is. :)

You can see Jones doing a couple of moronic
regional TV commercials if you check YouTube.

    How ‘bout dem Cowboys!

Steve Tisch is NOT what the Giants are now,
    or ever were about.

  10. dallasdave!

You’re my boy del! How ‘bout ‘em? Pretty sad way to end the season. This next season could be extremely humorous. So far dallas is going to have three head coaches. Rumors are also going around that the next jersey that says “Jones” on it will belong to Jerry. Apparently he is replacing Romo.

As for jerry’s commercials, one of my HS buddies is the delivery guy in the papa johns commercial. Sweet eh?! Also, let’s face it, we would all succumb to doing stupid TV adds for the money. Just ask Eli or Strahan. Apparently, when it comes to commercials, noone is above green.

OK BOYS AND GALS…........wE GOT A WEEK BEFORE GAMETIME!!!! I am already sick of all the talk and hype…..can’t wait for the game. The Giants have a chance at football immortality! It can be done…I think they have what it takes to get it done. I don’t mind the Giants being out and about this week at various signings and clubs, I just hope once they get to Zona it is all business. I have faith in this team that they aren’t satisfied with just getting to the game…They want a Super Bowl Title!!! The focus needs to be there and it will…......the Giants are 1 game away from being remembered as one of the most “special” teams in sports history
yeah, it’s time to reverse the curse once again…need to put Boston and all of New England back where they belong!!

    Go GMEN!!!

  12. nud

If the Giants win this game all the talk will be about a potential dynasty…..Gmen are young and they have a QB who can obviously deliver them to the big game so the future is bright

I am not satisfied yet, I hope you and the GMEN aren’t either

Looks like Boston is up to more classless mind games.

Keys to winning – The Giants have to be unpredictable on offense and defense, and they have to continue their run of mistake-free football.
Other keys – As the Ravens, the Eagles, and the Giants proved, the weakness of the Pats pass defense is in the middle (Of course Belichick knows this now and will try to compensate for it).
Eli has to use play action, the pump fake, and passes to the back shoulder to keep the Pats from smothering his receivers.
If they can’t get to Brady, the DL must put their hands up and clog the middle to keep Brady from having clear passing lanes. As with Favre, the rushers must make contact with Brady as frequently as possible without drawing a penalty.
If Osi can’t be a factor in the pass rush (the last Pats game his blocker had often pushed him 10 yards past the pocket by the time Brady released the ball), he should be told to drop back into coverage.
Conversely, the OL must give Eli decent passing lanes as they did in the last Pats game.
Special teams must give the offense and defense good field position
The Giants must remain aggressive throughout the game. They have a tendency to play too conservatively late in the game. This allows the other team to regroup and make a run. In the last Pats game, it cost the Giants the game. If need be they should seriously consider going for it on fourth down in Pats territory because in the fourth quarter, they will probably have to score every time they have the ball to win.
Finally, since no one expects Eli to run, one effective run for a first down by Eli should really create indecision in the Pats defense.

    LMAO. Nicely done, Ernie.

checked that article out. So here is a summary… the average pats fan is a middle aged soccer mom who drinks light beer. She proudly lives in an overpriced house while drowning in debt. She parties on the back of her soccer mom SUV and compensates for her porn-addict husband by googling over Tom Brady. Definitely worth bragging about! Come on G-MEN, Kill them PATS!
