Parade update

From colleague Mike Dougherty outside City Hall:
The fans are already lined up four- and five-people deep on the northern end of Giants’ Super Bowl parade route, decked out in anything with team colors.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., but bits of confetti are already making test runs from buildings high above Broadway.
Peter Bonoff of Scarsdale has been a lifelong Giants fan with roots in Yankee Stadium and wasn’t about to miss this moment.
“I come to every parade in New York City I can. I actually did think the Giants would be here. I’ve been here since 8:30. I took the early train down from Mamaroneck, grabbed some breakfast, and here I am. I think it’s going to be like St. Patrick’s Day.â€
Sgt. James Apostolou of Cortlandt Manor was working the parade route but wasn’t complaining.
“Everyone’s been great, but it’s early. I’d rather be on the other side (of the barricade) but I’ve got to work. I still get to see the parade as it goes by and hear everyone’s comments.â€
As many as a million people are expected to cheer the Super Bowl champs.
The team, meanwhile, cleaned out lockers at Giants Stadium and got fitted for Super Bowl rings.
The team assembled on buses for the ride to Manhattan. Many of the players have cameras to record the parade through the city’s “Canyon of Heroes.â€
A separate afternoon rally is scheduled for Giants Stadium.

Re: Spags who did a great job.
But is this a coincidence? Tim Lewis was the ONLY assistant coach on his staff that season that Cowher fired at the end of the season. The very next year the Steelers defense regained its old form and the Steelers went 15-1 in regular season. And then the next year the Steelers won the Super Bowl.
Spags takes over nearly the same defense that Lewis had.The very same pass rushing tools. Yet Giants defense greatly improved the very next year just like the Steelers defense did as soon as Lewis was canned. Press in NY never got on Lewis’ case like they got on Coughlin, Hufnagel, Gilbride but the problem with the Giants the first 3 years of Coughlin’s stay was always the defense NOT the offence or Eli Manning.
Question is? Did Spags move up this defense OR did Lewis drag it down to where it was before?
unbelievable god i love ny this parade is amazing, well over a million people here, so many kids teens and young adults who should definatly be somewhere else today and our here supporting the giants, i love ny and i love the giants and i had the day of a lifetime today, so many loud people screaming and yelling different chants. god bless this amazing city and the new york football giants. i think im gonna stay here and save my spot for next years parade

Did not get announced for a key by Bloomberg.
Bloomberg did not announce him when he gave out the keys.
Yah, they didn’t announce Shockey or Derrick Ward either, for keys to the city, but Kiwanuka was announced. Hmmm…
CBS’s coverage was much better than NBC’s. They were livelier and more informative.
Burress was at the Giants Stadium ceremony,at least.
So was Ward. I don’t recall seeing Fred Robbins,
but he might have been there. Osi was in Hawaii.
