Don’t want to get into dirty talk here, but is Jim Fassel starting to remind anyone of The Producers’ Max Bialystock in “The King of Broadway?” C’mon. You know the line.
Del 85, you know it, right?
Ciao for now.

If Fassel had had Spags, he’d still be the Giants’ coach.
No, Ernie. I don’t recall the line. But
I loved “The Producers” and Zero Mostel was
great in whatever he did.
But Fassel could also borrow a line from Bill
Bendix as Chester A. Riley in “The Life of
Riley”—“What a revoltin’ development this is!”
William Bendix….ha, that was a good laugh. Life of Riley was funny, but did he really have to wear the Karl Malden silly putty nose for the abysmal “Babe Ruth story”???..
With respect to that movie choice…I liken Bendixs agent getting him that job to that of agent for Ned Beatty. Imagine selling the Deliverance part to Ned Beatty. How can you???? “Hey ned, you can win a supporting academy award for that performance…”
Ernie – please remind me, what does Jim Fassel have to do with the producers?
Guys:
Wow, didn’t think it was possible to get too subtle with this crowd. Suffice to say, there’s a point in the song where Max wonders exactly what he has to do to “get a job in this town!”
As your punishment, I’m picking against the Giants in next season’s Thursday night opener, no matter who it’s against.
With your track record, there’s a win right there. I can practically recite every line from “The Producers” and I don’t remember that one. It’s a little scary that there is someone else out there who has seen the movie more than I have.
Ernie – thanks! Does the term “damaged goods” also apply to Gentlemen Jim?
His 2003 camp was a horrible train wreck to watch. I was up there a good week and I saw much laughing, sitting on helmets…K Hamilton sitting on water coolers most of the afternoon, anyways, Wellington Mara saw the same thing and that was one of his decisions to let Fassel go after the 4-12 2003 season. Wellington did not like the “country club” feel being run in camp, espc after the 49er playoff debacle.
As I said to many Skins fans down here in dixie…
97 playoffs vs Vikings, up 22-13 with 2 mins left. They lose 23-22
2000 SB35 – BLOWN out by ave offensive team. Again, BLOWN out by Average Offense. Amani Toomer said interesting words before this SB 42 “Our coaches changed the gameplan entirely from what we used to succeed that year”...hint, rookie Ron Dayne being inactive???
2002 playoffs vs 49ers. Up 38-14 in 3rd, lose somehow 39-38!!!
I reminded them that he would get you just so far…..then the term choke comes to mind.
I think if Fassel had his loyal running back Tiki ,they could wreak havoc in the NFL.He was a bad as ray handley who crashed under the pressure..fassel survived because he believed his own lies.
