Zorn for Skins

Daniel Snyder spends hours and weeks interviewing the likes of Jim Fassel, Ron Meeks, Steve Mariucci, and Steve Spagnuolo, and then goes with Jim Zorn, a guy who, before Snyder hired him as offensive coordinator on Jan. 25, hadn’t served in a higher capacity than quarterbacks coach.
I’m not saying the move won’t work. But it is a strange one that leads to one question. Just who in the NFL does Fassel have to cuddle up to to get a head coaching job? He’s been considered and passed over more than day-old croissants at a bakery.
Oh, well. Zany old Snyder at work again.
Zorn is noted as a patient teacher that will be bringing a lot of Mike Holmgren to the Redskins. Don’t know if that’s good news for Giants fans, though. That team has talent. And if Zorn can bring it together, they could become a power in the NFC East.
What do you guys think? Will Zorn’s hiring affect the Giants more adversely than if Snyder went with Fassel? Or do the Redskins automatically become non-factors in the 2008 race?
Let’s have it.
Ciao for now.

I think Fassel has too much negative baggage to the NFL insiders. Zorn probably comes cheaper and with less fanfare if he doesn’t work out at Wash.If he does work out than Snyder is a genius ,sometimes the best person is right under your nose, also ,Snyder has more control over Zorn than he would over fassel or any other veteran head coach. It may take a few years for the skins to be a major competitor in the nfc .
Synder is right up there with the Dolans. Trust the Redskins to always make the boneheaded move at the last moment. I’m no big Fassel fan, but the ‘skins are not exactly rebuliding (I think) and need a coach who has been there and done that. Even Spags would have been the wrong choice for them. Zorn was a perfect choice for OC, but head coach? I think not. In the tough-as-nails NFC East, he will be ground to dust. The ‘skins won’t stand a chance. But, what the hey, one less team for the NYG to worry about for the foreseeable future.
Jim Zorn was an very good Qb in his day.
His qb qualities are very reminscent of a young Jason Campbell.
Only main difference is that Zorn was a lefty.
I think its a holding job for Bill Cowher. Once Cowher makes up his mind, he will take the money from mr Snyder.
Cowher recently bought a huge farm in Leesburg Va, about a stones throw from the Ashburn Redskin complex.
