Nothing New Here

The Giants spent yesterday busily conducting their continued pre-draft and team analysis meetings, so much so that there was no contact with Tom Coughlin’s agent Gary O’Hagan about his contract extension.
Nor was there any substantive talk about re-signing the team’s primary free agents such as Gibril Wilson, Jeff Feagles, Derrick Ward, and Kawika Mitchell. All, though, are believed wanted by the Giants. But it could take some haggling to get Wilson back in the fold given some high contract demands that include $11 million of guaranteed money.
I’m sure the Coughlin talks will heat up over the next week, as soon as they get some of this evaluation stuff out of the way. It’s not like the man’s going anywhere. He still has a year left on his contract, after all. But the Giants would rather see this done sooner than later, so I’m guess we’ll at least have news that the sides are talking hard numbers by the end of the week.
Ciao for now.
