Feagles Coming Back

The Giants are back in operation.
Or should I say, the Giants’ operation is back!
Kicker Lawrence Tynes is all but signed to a five-year, $7 million deal. And now, 41-year-old punter Jeff Feagles, according to a league source, has informed the Giants that he’ll be back. No surprise there, since he told reporters during the playoffs that, after a brief contemplation of retirement in 2006, he now plans to play until somebody tells him to stop playing. Given the way the old guy keeps himself in shape, that should come sometime around 2028, which should lead him right into social security.
The best news of all this for the Giants is that, not only do they get one of the best—if not THE best—directional punters in the league back, but they keep intact the most important part of the placekicking operation, the holder. Feagles was at times a veritable acrobat back there as rookie Jay Alford molded himself into a reliable snapper. During Alford’s more, shall we say, inconsistent days, Feagles could be seen reaching and twisting for snaps that went every way but straight, getting them into good placement for Tynes.
Perfect example: That last field goal miss from 36 yards in regulation in Green Bay was a high snap. But Feagles got it down. It was Tynes who yanked it wide left. The ball was where it should have been, which is a testament to Feagles’ ability as a holder.
As for punting, yeah, the Giants will live with him knocking kicks 45 yards downfield and about a foot-and-a-half out of bounds. He does take the excitement out of opposing punt returns, doesn’t he? But you can’t beat his boyish enthusiasm for the game, which rubs off on the rest of the locker room.
Don’t know if the Giants have handed him a new contract yet, but signing him won’t be a problem

Any news on whats going on with Wilson and Mitchell?
They sign Tynes but wouldn’t sign Feeley last year. I don’t understand that one. I still don’t trust Tynes – he was never really tested much, except the Green Bay game and he missed 2 out of 3 of those kicks.
As for Feagles – great news!!
