It’s Official

The Associated Press just reported that Jeff Feagles has signed a new deal. It’s for two years, probably with a raise from the $1 million he earned last season. I’ll try to get a more exact figure, but suffice to say it’s certainly not a salary-cap buster, and the best directional punter in the NFL is back with the Giants.
“I still have some years left in me, and I think I proved it this year,” Feagles said. “I just love being on this team now. And I can’t say enough about this organization. The decision was really about whether the team wanted to sign me back, and they did, and I wanted to play. Then it was matter of getting together, working some numbers, and then doing it.”
Give Feagles this much. He did his own contract. No gnarly agents for him. Just sat down with assistant manager Kevin Abrams, hammered out some terms, and away he went.
That leaves Gibril Wilson, Kawika Mitchell, Derrick Ward, and Reggie Torbor as the main guys on the front burner to sign before the Feb. 29 opening of free agency.
But at least the Giants have one less worry now.
“We’re happy to have Jeff back for a couple of more years,” general manager Jerry Reese said. “He’s a tremendous person and football player. He really did a special job handling the two rookie snappers (punt-snapper Zak DeOssie and placement snapper Jay Alford) and the young kicker (Lawrence Tynes).”
Ciao for now.

That’s great news.
wow…this offseason is starting off rather nicely coming off a Super Bowl win. Harmonious and content.
compare this offseason so far to 1987 and the aftermath of SB 21…T Karl Nelson had Hodgkins disease and missed the yr, starting wr Bobby Johnson was traded to Chargers, the replacement players with names like qb Jim Crocchichia, DE Reggie Carr (whom was caught sleeping mid game on the bench vs the 49ers) and lb Don Derose would go 0-3 putting the Giants in a 0-5 hole that they could not recover from.
Its nice to see Spags, Feags and Tynes all return!
