Trade For Hall?

February
22

Newark Star-Legder is reporting the Giants might be willing to send the 31st pick in the draft to Atlanta for cornerback DeAngelo Hall. Believe it or not, that wouldn’t be a surprise, since GM Jerry Reese showed himself as a bit of a trader last year in swaps for Reuben Droughns and Lawrence Tynes.

You know he’s looking to shore up the secondary, and Hall is tough and has 17 interceptions in his career. His sideline dustup with Falcons coach Bobby Petrino was a bit troubling. But then, Petrino showed just what kind of person he is, anyway, when he ran off to Arkansas. So maybe Hall gets a pass on that.

We’ll see how this develops. Wouldn’t be a bad move if they can pull it off, since Marques Trufant and Nnamdi Asomugha got slapped with the franchise tag by Seattle and Oakland.

Ciao for now.

I like this move. Hall would be on his best behavior because he’s going to a SB team and he knows they have the best pass rush in the game so that could only help his production…And at the 31 spot, the chances the Giants get a player of his skillset who can play right away initially at ANY position is very slim…

Ernie – great job with the blog

We’d be getting a very good 24-year-old corner very cheaply. I guess the main thing is to do due diligence, and ask around about his character. It’s hard to know how much of this was Petrino (who seemed to lose most of the locker room in Atlanta)

If Hall were acquired, I assume it could be the end for McQuarters and/or Madison

Love this trade. If it takes a 5RD on top of our 1RD to get it done I think we should just do it. Hall starting with Ross with Webster as our Nickel and Dockery #4 we’d be awesome. I think Reese should see if he can give them the 6RD pick we got for Ryan Grant but if it takes a 5RD DO IT!!!! Hall would be a huge lift for our D. Lets not forget he’s only 24!

    Ernie,
It seems folks are pretty split on Hall, which is what you would expect. Comments on my site are about 50-50—http://bigblueview.com/story/2008/2/22/65211/4943.

I love that you people are saying if it takes a 5th round pick to get it done then you have to do it. Its going to take the Giants 1 and 3 picks to trade for D-Hall. And he wont come cheap if the Giants make this deal Hall and the Giants would have to work out a new deal. Since Hall only has one yr remaining. And he’s going to want the top dollar he deserves. But the Giants have to do the deal if its there. Any Giant fan knows that the team hasnt had a all pro corner since who knows when. Also even if this trade isnt made the Giants will release McQuarters and Madison.
