Safety Michael Huff is a UFA. No. 7 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, has started all 32 games of his NFL career and would be a solid addition to any team that needs help at safety. Why not chase him down? It’d be less than what Gibril would’ve cost us. He’s got potential – just played in a poor system. And even still, Raiders pass D was on point there towards the end of the season.

wilson is gone kind of upsets me he was one of my favorite players, the giant secondary is in deep crap now, hope they no wat there doing by letting this ball hawk go hes the perfect safety for spags scheme, hes a ball hawk and a great blitzer

It’s not quite done yet, but he’ll come in at four years, about $21 million. It’s basically the figures I and just about everyone else have been reporting (about $20 milllion) since the Super Bowl. The holdup, I believe, is more the availability of the principles than anything. Maybe a little talk on whether to rip up 2008, but nothing that’s going to sink the deal. Fact is, there was no great urgency to get this done, as these negotiations have shown.

I don’t think they’re going to give much more than the No. 1 pick for Hall. They might just give the job to Michael Johnson, the rookie who did a good job filling in when Wilson was hurt, or move somebody like Aaron Ross or Corey Webster to safety, then draft for depth. You’re right about the safety pool, though. Rather shallow outside of Wilson, considering Ken Hamlin was franchised by the Cowboys.
