Sammy’s Visiting

Jaguars safety Sammy Knight, a target of the Giants ever since they realized Gibril Wilson was a goner, will visit the team either tomorrow or Monday after leaving a visit with Denver today without a contract.

The Giants hope to get him for a one or two-year deal at about $1.5 million per year, which is a lot more reasonable than the $39 million ($16 million guaranteed) the Raiders handed Wilson. If Knight signs, he’ll be around just long enough for Michael Johnson to develop into a fulltime starter. Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo won’t have to worry about shifting around any cornerbacks into Wilson’s spot.

Ciao for now.
