Javon Walker?

If you were wondering why the Giants showed no great interest in released Denver wide receiver Javon Walker, here’s a good reason.
Six years, $55 million, $16 million guaranteed.
That’s what the Raiders reportedly just handed Walker, a guy with a bad knee and a questionable attitude. About the only other team that wants to play in that ballpark, apparently, are the Jets, not that they had any interest. Just goes to show what some desperate teams will do for players on the downside of their careers.
Ciao for now.

good!
at least eagles didnt get him!
Ernie, could it be possible that Al Davis and some of the other big spenders know the owners are gonna opt out of the current CBA which would make the 2010 (or is it 2011 – I amy stand corrected)seasons and beyond uncapped? Even if not, the cap has risen from $85 million to $115 million in two seasons. At that rate the contracts being given out recently will be considered bargain basement in a year or two. Maybe the Giants should start spending some of that reported $18-20 million in cap space so they don’t become just another NFC super bowl team that fails to qualify for the playoffs the following season.
I think the Giants played the most exciting Super Bowl Game ever. The Jets vs the Colts was exciting in that they beat a team they were not expected to beat. However, they were ahead the whole game and just kept Morall and the Colts stymied. That being said, I believe the Giants were just plain lucky that Manning didn’t give the game away. Rather than hang on to him because he was part of a Super Bowl win, they should unload him and high-maintenance Shockey for someone like a Rivers-type, with a gun for an arm. Forget J-Load he’s got an arm but a condominium for an ass.
Jon,
What meds are you on? I want some..
Also, Burress only had 2 catches in the game. They need a better No. 1 WR and should trade Burress for Larry Fitzgerald and his contract. . .
Seriously, I think most people will agree that you are way off base. The play of the defense aside, they would not have won that game were it not for Eli’s Super Bowl MVP performance. Only one other quarterback (a guy named Joe Montana) had ever thrown 2 td passes in the fourth quarter of a super bowl. Not starr, not elway, not aikman, not jim kelly, not peyton manning, not brady. Even the “bad” thrown that Asante Samuel almost got – it appeared there was a miscommunication as the receiver cut back and even if Samuel caught it cleanly, he still landed out of bounds.
yeah cause plaxico did nothing in the championship game except take al harris to school
I can’t believe people are criticizing the play of the Super Bowl champion Giants. They won and they beat an undefeated team by scoring at the end of the game. Enjoy it. Don’t pick at it. I’ve watched the tape three times and I’ve loved every minute of it.
Jon…you are probably looking for a fantasy football blog..this is not it. stop blogging for all of our sanity..Did javon walker get over paid? yes of course. Will Oakland get value for their dollar? absolutely not. But Oakland did need to make this move. They now at least have a big play NAME on their roster. While this move will not give rise to the restoration of pride for the silver and black, it certainly gives them a significant upgrade in their WR corps. Now if only they can any get some semblance of continuity in their system they might win 6 or 7 games
