Kelly Coming?

With their vacant safety spot taken care of, the Giants are now trying to shore up their cornerbacks. They’ve made contact with agent Gary Uberstine, the same guy who repped newly-signed Sammy Knight, about Tampa Bay cornerback Brian Kelly. No word of a visit yet, but they’re trying.
Kelly bought himself out of the last year of his deal in Bucs-land to become a free agent.
Kelly wouldn’t be a bad addition. The star of that backfield was, of course, Ronde Barber. But Kelly is a smart veteran who played the last 10 years with the Bucs. He’s in Detroit today, along with Bucs safety Kalvin Pearson.
Kelly played in 11 games with just four starts last year, making two interceptions and 21 total tackles. His biggest year came in 2002 when he had eight interceptions for the Lombardi Trophy winners. He’d be another economical signing, though his experience in the more passive Cover-2 defense might make him a better fit for Detroit than the Giants’ aggressive scheme.
Also, in case you’re sitting at the edge of your seats, the Coughlin contract should be done by tomorrow. Just some technical language being worked out. Geez, you’d think the repositioning of a few words wouldn’t take all week!
Ciao for now.

wouldnt be a bad addition but i happen to like the giants corners, this would just add depth, because if we sign him he would be the nickle or dime corner at best. webster and ross will start, madison in the nickle and dockery in the dime. kelly wuld just be a smart vet with talent to stick back there. i think its time rw is cut.
and the giants need a linebacker, i think landon johnson or victor hobson wuld be a great fix for the giants, both happen to be young. we must remeber kiwi is still a project and wilkenson is nothing but potential hasnt proved anything yet. so i think it would be smart if the giants picked up a guy like hobson and then used there first round pick on either a wide receiver or another linebacker.
