Going With What They Know

March
12

There’s nothing like bringing in free agent prospects that you’ve had some relationship with ahead of time. And that’s exactly what the Giants have right now as they visit with quarterback David Carr and linebacker Danny Clark.

Both have previous connections with Giants coaches. Carr, of course, worked under quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer from 2002-2005 when Palmer coordinated the Texans’ offense. Clark, an eight-year veteran known as a big hitter, played the first four years of his career in Jacksonville, three under Tom Coughlin, the man who drafted him.

No telling if coaching ties will result in contracts, but it’s a good bet one or both of these guys leave Giants Stadium today with at least solid offers, if not signed deals. The 31-year-old Clark, a starter for two years with the Raiders, could contribute on special teams and back up Mathias Kiwanuka on the strong side.

We’ll see.

Ciao for now.

y do we have to bring this scrub in, i really think the giants should make a strong push for victor hobson, a guy who has had some 100 plus tackle season recently and consitently racks up atleats 80 tackles. sign him for 3 years while we get gerris wilkenson preped for the job.

Just got word the Giants signed Carr to a one year contract. Terms undisclosed.

    Any validity to that EP?
