Talking Carr

Here’s some of what David Carr had to say upon his joining the Giants today.
“I have a lot of calluses,” Carr said. “I’m like an old carpenter. I’ve been through it. If you let that stuff affect you, you’re not going to be able to do your job.
“One of the reasons I’m excited about coming here is they protect the quarterback well and they have playmakers on the outside.”
Carr certainly does have the calluses—and concussions—to prove it. He’s been sacked 262 times in his career, and he suffered two concussions last year as a Panther.
He also said quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer, his offensive coordinator in Houston, was a big reason he signed on.
“I’m excited to meet up with Chris again,” Carr said. “That’s really the main reason I came up here. He has the best feel for what I’m doing. He knows what’s best as far as what my mechanics should be when I throw the ball.”
Guess Palmer won’t have a lot of leisure time at camp this year. In addition to keeping Eli Manning on the straight and narrow, throwing wise, he has a reclamation project in Carr. And then there’s always Anthony Wright and Jared Lorenzen to deal with.
Your turn, guys. You like?
Ciao for now.
PS: Also, it looks like LB Danny Clark left his visit without a contract. We’ll see if he winds up signing anyway.

Correct me if I’m wrong EP, but isn’t there a tender on RFA Lorenzen?
If so, why are we still keeping Wright? Releasing him would free up some 2.5 million, right? Add that to the ~$10.1 we have now, and we’d be right back at $12.6.
We’re going to need every penny of it if Burress, Strahan and Umenyiora are looking for contract restructuring.
wow i was actually happy about the clark signing would have added good depth but that was wrong.. ernie what was said to make u jump the gun was a deal close or agreed and the giants backed out or u just assumed the giants were going to sign him, just wondering because there must have been something interesting for u to get the inkling that we signed him
BBWC:
Nope. Just a little bad information from an overzealous source. That’s the trouble with the internet age. Sometimes, we’re too hasty to put things up, and then we have to take them back. Luckily, it doesn’t happen that often.
Ernie – Championship teams that want to continue to be
Champs make these kind of deals (Carr)...it reminds me of when Parcells traded a few draft picks to the then St Louis Cardinals, for OJ Anderson during the 1986 season. Cries at the time were “they have Joe Morris, why do they need an OJ Anderson?” ...we all found out that OJ still had it, and was an important cog to the Parcells teams.
I view Carr as a valued pickup whom might flourish in this system.
