Keep Checking In

March
24

Well, gang, I’m outta here for about a month, maybe a little more, while I take an extended, but necessary breather. Hey, stuff happens, right?

Don’t bail out of the blog, though. I’m setting things up so that whatever happens with the Giants in the meantime, my fleet of special guys and gals at the paper will be able to update you right here. My main man, Rick Carpiniello, will keep you informed on draft day, and he doesn’t miss a trick. So you’ll be well-taken care of, I promise.

Keep checking in. Honestly, I don’t believe much will happen between now and the draft, but as they say in the song, one never knows, do one?

Anyway, I’ll be back ASAP.

Ciao for now.

    Ernie,

Enjoy your time off. You’ve earned it.

  2. musclemenace

Have a good one EP! Bring us back a souvenier!

  3. chris

    where you goin? Have fun!

  4. Mike

Ernie – you gonna be back for the draft?

  5. Russ

Ernie – take care and see you soon.

  6. Del 85

I think Ernie’s going to play Spring football
in NFL Europe, or something like that. Maybe
it’s in the Venezuelan league. Cheaper gas
down there, but pretty oppressive otherwise.

Ok guys, here’s the dig. Ernie is down here looking for a place. Houses are cheaper, more open space, and the women are more beautiful! Beer flows from the faucet, steaks magically appear in the fridge every morning, and we are home to the 2009 superbowl champs! So, welcome home ernie!

  8. BoomShaker

Take care Ernie … Can you please take Strahan with you?

Enjoy your “time in the Sun”!

The rumor is that Ernie is going to India for cheap plastic surgery and to sell a kidney to pay off his Superbowl debt.

  12. dallasdave!

I don’t know if you guys saw it, but ernie was on TV the other day. Turns out he has been running the olympic flame! I saw him carry it up to some guy in china. It was during this time of spandex that he decided to head to India for plastic surgery. The olympic committee cut costs, so in order to pay for all of this, he is indeed selling a kidney. Strange world.

    Ernie, Carp

I really don’t understand how Jerry Reese doesn’t win GM of the year.

Ernie – enjoy your time off

  14. Mookie

    Let’s a play a game: Where’s Ernie?

Winner gets an autographed picture of E.P.

Here’s my guess: I think he’s training for HBO’s newest reality show, set to debut in the fall: Nude Dancing With the Not-Quite-Stars.

  15. Abby McWho?

Ernie is going to be the best man at Eli Manning’s April 19 wedding in Mexico. However, due to concerns about his ability to get back into the country (don’t ask) he’s going to have to travel by mule across the Texas border under the cover of darkness. Therefore, he may be out a while.

  16. E.B.

I think I saw Ern on American Idol’s celebrity “give back” edition last night. He was doing a duet with Eli, singing “All I Need is a Miracle”.

  17. M. Strahan

I believe I saw him in Ocean’s 13. ... Wait, that was George Clooney. Damn. I always get them confused.

  18. Blue Moon

Are you in training for the Olympics?

  19. Jessica S

Hurry back, Ernie. I miss you lots. Just say the word and that Tony fellow I’ve been dating is outta here.

  20. Bert

Wait, there he is! Caddying for Tiger Woods!

  21. HitMON

Why on earth would you tell us to “Check back” when there has been NOTHING new posted since 3/24. Pretty weak. Less than 2 weeks away from draft wknd, and you couldnt find any contributors to help keep us loyal fans informed in your absence?

mvn.com has won this voters attention.

  22. Joe Fan

MVN.com is the WORST site on the planet. The discussion there is for losers. ... As for you, HitMON, relax and take a reading comprehension course. Ernie’s post was on March 24. He said he’d be out “about a month, maybe a little more.” That means sometime after April 24. It’s only April 16. Give him a break. ... Ernie, we miss you. Hurry back. Oh, but your “special guys and gals” at the paper? They really dropped the ball in your absence.

  23. g-man

Rick Carpiniello will take good care of us while your gone? Are you kidding me???

  24. HitMON

Joe Fan, you are just plain misinformed. I cant argue with a naive mind. however, Reading is Fundemental.

As for us being left in good hands with the special guys and gals at the paper – either the recession hit LoHud hard and fast in the past few weeks, or people genuinely didnt get the memo from Ernie that he was counting on them to keep his fan base in tact while he is away. Everyone deserves time off, Ernie included, however with the thousands of news outlets at our disposal, going dark for over a month is not a good recipe to maintain your readership.

joe fan, i would love to know the difference between mvn and this blog in your eyes? please explain, other than the fact that mvn has people in place to keep it updated and the conversation flowing all year round, regardless of vacations or the off season.

despite my disappointment with this forum, i must leave you with this thought (simply because i still cannot believe it):

BIG BLUE IS THE DEFENDING SUPER BOWL CHAMP! i love it

  25. Mark

Considering the paper has placed the entire burden on Ernie of keeping us informed, perhaps he is out looking for a job with someone more committed to its Giant coverage.

  26. G.Roogamer

This paper blows. Seriously. They deleted my last comment when I said how much they blow. They’d rather cover crappy high school sports that no one cares about than devote space to the Super Bowl champs. Maybe Ernie has moved on to a place that gives a poop.
