Ring ding

Well, the Giants are getting their new championship bling at this moment inside the Manhattan jewelry store where the Super Bowl rings were made.
They did some interesting things, although the “Blue” carpet was cheesy and the whole commercialism of this event is questionable (such as, would they be doing it this way if Wellington Mara were still alive?).
But the Giants did the right thing in a lot of ways, including invitations to former GM Ernie Accorsi, and to Lt. Gadson, the wounded war hero who was their honorary captain during the playoffs, and to free agents who left after the season Kawika Mitchell and Gibril Wilson. They were all here to pick up their rings.
Not present, at least when the proceedings began, were Antonio Pierce (on his honeymoon), Jeremy Shockey (as Billy Wagner might say, “shocker”) and Plaxico Burress.
Michael Strahan, who never met a camera he didn’t like, made a big show on the carpet inside the ropes, but when somebody asked him if getting his ring made him want to come back for more, he said, “We’re not going there” and he slid over to the next group of cameras.
Brandon Jacobs was asked what he’ll be thinking when he gets his ring, and he quickly answered, “We upset they ass.”
The ceremonies were to be kicked off with the Giants’ traditional kickoff song, Hell’s Bells.
