There’s at least one area where Ernie Accorsi will be setting Jerry Reese’s schedule.
Accorsi, the former Giants general manager who many say constructed the team which eventually won the Super Bowl, is taking his expertise to the NFL league offices.

He has been hired to co-chair a general managers advisory committee to look at how well teams comply with league rules. It’s the first committee made up entirely of GMs, and includes the Giants current GM Reese, Jerry Angelo, Kevin Colbert, Rod Graves, James Harris, Tom Heckert, Marty Hurney, Mickey Loomis, Carl Peterson, Tim Ruskell, Rick Smith and Mike Tannenbaum.
“It’ll be great (working with Reese),” said Accorsi, in an AP photo above with Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin. “I really wanted him in the group.”
Accorsi was on the NFL panel which looked at concussions a few years ago. NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello said that the new committee wasn’t just in response to Spygate—“No more than any other issue” — but two of the specific goals of the new committee are insuring the game’s integrity and looking at the use of technology.
Accorsi, who said this will be the only consulting gig he does, lives 18 blocks from the NFL’s Manhattan offices and said the group will be a good way for GMs to be heard and was the brainchild of commissioner Roger Goodell.
“I think he wanted to blend them all together and give them a voice and opinion,” Accorsi said.
In other news: MetLife has signed on to be the official insurance of the Giants and Jets, and will be able to name one of four entrances to the new Meadowlands Stadium. A marketing source tells the AP the deal could be worth $10 to $15 million.

It is in response to the Patriots and there should be no denying that but it plans on focusing on the future integrity of the game and that includes every team. Will it change much? Probably not, but at least it might and that’s worth something, especially a lot of money. With the hope that it does change something, and a great season for the Giants (again) – Jack.
