Catch a glimpse at the helmet

June
17

tyree.jpg

David Tyree’s Super Bowl helmet will be on display for a limited time at the Sports Museum of America (www.sportsmuseum.com), located on 26 Broadway in lower Manhattan. The helmet is on loan from the Giants for the summer before it is moved to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio this fall.

Seems like Tyree’s helmet-catch still hasn’t been officially named.

I send you an email, jgold, but haven’t gotten any response. You say the play hasn’t been named yet. It has been named in many radio and online contests. Sounds like there is an official place where it is named for you to say it still has no name. Explain what you mean by your report, please.

    NBD,

No, there is no “official” naming contest. By “official” I essentially meant a name that everyone can agree it should be called.

J, NFL Films is dubbing it “The Double Miracle” on clips on YouTube. What’s your opinion on how much influence they or the HOF will have over what it’s called…or any other org you can think of?

I actually think it could be considerable. I’m pretty sure it was NFL Films, afterall, that dubbed the Cowboys “America’s Team.” They have a lot of influence.
