Checking in again from Albany

I’m back in Albany for a couple more days of camp, and have to admit how surprised I am by the relative lack of controversy here. Maybe it’s just because I’ve covered the Knicks for a decade. I’m not used to writing about what happens on the actual field of play.
We did finally get to speak with Ahmad Bradshaw about his short jail stint, but the conversation didn’t exactly clear up questions about why he didn’t serve out the punishment for a parole violation that apparently occurred two years ago (stealing a video game console from a teammate) while he was at Marshall University or four years ago (underage drinking) while he was at the University of Virginia.
“It’s just life, man,” he said. “You’ve just got to grow from your mistakes. That’s what I did, and that’s how I looked at it. I felt I was there for a reason, and now I just had to learn from it.”
Antonio Pierce was planning to practice, and didn’t make anything of the shoulder injury that kept him sidelined yesterday.
“I just thought it was coach Coughlin being nice to me, giving me a day off,” he said.
Eli Manning spoke, too. Yawn. He certainly isn’t about to color outside the lines, and didn’t have a lot to offer. Manning was asked whether he misses Jeremy Shockey, and passed on an opportunity to provide some levity.
Apparently, he doesn’t know how many snaps are coming his way on Thursday in Detroit, either.
Back later with more.
