Learning about the Bengals

Back to work.
This weekly routine is still new to me so it’s kinda fun learning what the Giants do leading up to Sunday, and it sounds like they spend a little more time getting to know teams like Cincinnati.
It’s not a familiar bunch.
“You always have to do that you haven’t played for a couple years,” Tom Coughlin said. “The players all have their DVDs, which they take home at night and look at. We introduce on Wednesday morning. It might take a little longer, as it did a few minutes longer this morning to really spell it out. We show them at their best. We show them what they’re capable of doing. We talk about each individual and their contribution. The coaches then go into greater detail about the schemes.”
It’s unlikely the players have seen any of the issues that account for the Bengals’ 0-2 start.
On the injury front, CB R. W. McQuarters (calf) isn’t ready to practice, according to Coughlin. DE Mathias Kiwanuka (ankle), S Michael Johnson (neck), CB Terrell Thomas (hamstring) and K Lawrence Tynes (knee) were supposed to be evaluated after doing individual work.
There’s one legitimate concern.
Coughlin doesn’t sound optimistic Kiwanuka’s going to be near full speed again this week. The injury may not actually improve until he gets some rest during the early bye week.
“I don’t think those things ever really clear up,” Coughlin said.
Uh, oh.
