Burress sits and waits

In case you happen to be holding your breath, a spokesman for the NFL Players Association indicated this evening the union has not officially filed a non-injury grievance on behalf of Plaxico Burress.
My guess is the suspension will not be overturned.
The players association is engaged in talks with the NFL Management Council, which doesn’t sound promising. I’m not an expert on this particular CBA, but those discussions are usually dominated by league officials who attempt to convince union officials the grievance will ultimately fail.
While teammates continue to claim ignorance, it certainly sounds like Burress had been previously warned to alter his routine.

Coughlin needs to stick to his guns if indeed this is as clear cut as it looks. The team will respect his decision. I just hope the team wins. If it does, Plaxico might realize he is not indispensible. If they lose, Plaxico might think “Hey, they can’t win without me” and not change his behavior. This will force Coughlin to suspend him again, or at least sit him down, until Plaxico gets the message.
