Anybody got a thumb tack?
Browns defensive lineman Corey Williams forgot to look at the statistical rankings before he explained to the Cleveland Plain Dealer how to shut down Brandon Jacobs.
“His whole thing is, if you let him come out and get a seven- or eight-yard run, get his confidence level up high, then he can be effective,” Williams said. “But if we can come out and hit him in the mouth from the jump, he tends to slow down and do some tip-toeing. You’ve got to swarm him, swarm to the ball.”
For the record, the Browns are ranked 22nd in the league against the run.
I’m not sure if Jacobs is motivated by throwaway quotes that end up on bulletin boards, we’ll have to ask later. Usually, these blurbs are little more than a source of amusement.
As for the Giants, we just got done with Tom Coughlin who noted Kareem McKenzie (concussion) and Antonio Pierce (quadriceps) will be held out of practice this afternoon. Domenik Hixon (concussion) will participate on a limited basis, not contact.
Right now, it sounds like everyone is on track for Monday night.
Keep an eye on Pierce, though. It seems the Giants want to get a look at how the injury might be affect him before declaring him ready to go.
And if you want a peek inside Eli Manning’s condo in Hoboken, N.J., click this link sent by the electronics firm that wired up all of his gizmos and gadets. Go to the slide show and try not to get jealous.
