No cause for alarm

Eli Manning is fine.
While the Giants did not go full speed in practice, he found nothing to complain about. Apparently, the bruised chest is not an issue. He described the problem as soreness, not an injury.
“It didn’t affect practice, or throwing, or keep me from doing anything I needed to do,” Manning said a short while ago.
There’s no way to dispute that until he runs through a series or two against San Francisco.
And that seems to be a certainty at this point. He’s not going to get touched in practice over the next two days, and Tom Coughlin noted there’s no reason to believe Manning won’t be ready on Sunday.
The same cannot be said of Shaun O’Hara.
“O’Hara is hopefully going to get out (of the hospital) in the morning,” Coughlin said. “He is over there fighting and scratching to get out, but so far they have kept him. We expect him to be out tomorrow morning.”
Put him down as questionable.
Antonio Pierce might be need more time, as well. He was not able to do much because of the strained quadriceps, but wasn’t around to discuss the matter when the locker room opened.
“It is going to be day-to-day,” Coughlin said. “We will see how that goes.”
Gerris Wilkinson is likely out with a strained MCL.
“The way it improved from Monday to today was big,” he said optimistically. “If it keeps improving like that, it might not be that long.”

I think I’ll light a few candles for O’Hara and Pierce.
I’ll be honest, even with that performance the Browns put up against our defense, I think they’ll be OK without Pierce against the 49ers and the great J.T. O’Sullivan. However, O’Hara is pretty essential to this team.
