Mara and Reese on Burress

Does anyone else find it a little odd that we’re 36 hours into this major distraction and Plaxico Burress has not spoken directly with the people who control his fate?
Giants co-owner John Mara and general manager Jerry Reese addressed the media a little while ago.
“Right now we’re in the stage where we’re gonna wait until the investigation plays out and we get all the facts and once we get all the facts we’ll make a determination as to what if anything we’ll do,” Mara said. “Right now we have a lot of unanswered questions out there and we want to wait until the investigation concludes. We’re cooperating fully with NFL Security and with the NYPD and whatever they ask us to do we’re going to do. We’ll wait to see what determination they come up with and after that we’ll react accordingly.”
Basically, there’s a shortage of answers.
“I’m disappointed that this happened, that any of our guys would put themselves in this kind of situation,” Mara said. “Our first concern is for Plaxico, his health and well-being. We were very relieved to find out that he is going to be OK. But yeah, I am disappointed.”
Despite his alleged involvement, Antonio Pierce has been given permission to play.
“Antonio has been cooperative with NFL Security and with the police,” Reese said. “Antonio is focused on trying to beat the Redskins right now. That’s where his focus is. That’s where it should be right now.”
Pierce has spoken to NFL Security officials, but has apparently not met with police.
I know the Giants have been great about not getting caught up in what happens around them, but this has bigger implications than anything else they’ve run into this season. Let’s see what happens.
