Brandon Jacobs did finally get a call back from Plaxico Burress, and he shared a few of the details after the game.
To be honest, I’m not sure what to make of the comments.
“I have heard back from him and he’s doing fine,” Jacobs said. “He called me laughing and grinning so I take it that he’s doing fine.”
Burress was laughing?
“He’s feeling good,” Jacobs said. “I called him and made a few jokes about the situation and his laugh is what I wanted to hear.”
You know, there’s nothing like a little bit of levity when a teammate is facing potential felony charges.
“I made a few jokes about the situation and he had a little humor about it and that was it,” Jacobs said. “If he didn’t laugh, I knew he was going to be down, which he shouldn’t be down. It’s a mistake that happened, something that shouldn’t have happened.”
Does he ever want to slap a teammate in the head, though, for a stupid mistake?
“It all depends on how he feels and what was the matter,” Jacobs said. “It’s tough out there for us and a lot of people don’t know that. It’s tough out there in everyday life for us. Some people are very, very bothered by it, and that’s why I stay home.”
It’s not uncommon for NFL players to carry guns in social situations.
“No question,” Jacobs said.
Does he ever worry about his safety.
“All I say is, in the streets, for me, there’s no need for it,” Jacobs said. “But you come in between that door frame in my home, I’m going to kill you. Hands down.”

I love jacobs. LOL he probably would kill anyone that enters his home. I believe it.
Plax will never play again for the Giants.

I saw the headline of the Daily News (“Plax Laughed”) before I read the full context of Jacobs convo.. Tabloid journalism at it’s finest.. Sigh..
As far as the convo between the two of them.. I think it’s an example of two people who truly don’t (or at least didn’t at the time) understand the levity of the situation they are dealing with.. When your friend gets shot, you’re glad to see them in good spirts and “well”.. That’s all that I think BJ had on his mind.. His friend got shot and he was a-ok..
I think today, especially with Bloomberg’s comments, everyone involved is realizing this will likely not be a case of “no harm, no foul”...
