All signs point to yes

Are the Giants having a hard time getting to the quarterback?

It seems the league has responded since they’ve recorded just seven sacks in the last five games. And the last of those was a falling-down gift from Donovan McNabb.

So is there a problem?

“All you have to do is go game by game,” Tom Coughlin said.

Let’s see, the Giants were not able to catch up with Donovan McNabb on Nov. 9. They got to Joe Flacco and Kurt Warner once. Jason Campbell was pulled down four times in the rain on Nov. 30, then McNabb proved frustrating again last week, and was tripped up once.

Yep, there’s an issue.

Are the Giants blitzing enough?

“The exact number, I can’t tell you what it was, but there was pressure called during the game,” Coughlin said. “We didn’t get home. But anytime you overdo it – the touchdown run was a full blitz and he just found a way to find a crack. He got lost in behind here and found crack. … You can’t allow a guy to stand back there. Even on the (Brian) Westbrook touchdown pass reception, he even chipped on an end and then came out. There was a little too much time there as well.”

There have been instances where the sack numbers don’t accurately reflect the pressure, but it sounds like the Giants will spend time on revising what they’ve done up front to restore the pass rush. It’s part of the succesful postseason formula. Look at last season.

They need the momentum swings a sack provides.

The Giants can correct a few areas in the play-calling and add a few wrinkles to the defense and they’ll be just fine. They have the talent, the coaching and the mental toughness to fulfill their goals they set out this year. As to the Eagles game:

As deep is the defence chart is we are still without one of the best in Osi!!! That just meant that our “DB’s” have to step it up in a big way! Also set for Tuck to “rome” with Romo all day this way he’s alway got him in his sightes!!
We have to pull the trigger before they do!! Bang up Romo and the rest is history!
