No worse for the wear

It sounds like Brandon Jacobs survived last night’s game without any further damage. Same goes for Domenik Hixon, Justin Tuck and Fred Robbins.
That’s important going forward now.
“I don’t think anybody came out any worse for the wear,” Tom Coughlin said during this afternoon’s conference call. “I would expect they’ll all be sore today, but I don’t think there would be anything that would keep them from playing.”
Except maybe common sense?
Since his weekend’s game in Minnesota is not all that important in the grand scheme of things, it’s fine to look ahead to the playoffs.
“That plan has not been formulated yet,” Coughlin said.
He is going to visit with the medical staff and give the issues some thought before putting a game plan together. Don’t forget, the Giants picked up a world of momentum last season by approaching the final regular-season game against New England as if it meant something.
Coughlin obviously disagrees with the notion that he’s playing a meaningless game against the Vikings.
He realizes a number of players need time off to rest and recuperate, but there’s a week off built into the schedule now and that can pose it’s own hazards.
“I’m taking all that into consideration,” Coughlin said.
We’ll know more tomorrow when the Giants begin to prepare for Minnesota. The schedule for the week has been adjusted slightly because of the Christmas holiday.
So how would you play this week, full speed ahead or with a very conservative approach?

Is Ross okay?
I say sit Jacobs, Tuck, Ross, Hixon and Robbins on Sunday. Let Eli play for the 1st half then put Carr in. Sounds good?
S.A.,
Eli for the first half sounds good to me. Hopefully the game can be reasonably “in hand” by halftime and Carr can manage the ball for the second half. Winning isn’t necessarily vital for this game, but I think it would be great to end the season on a high note, and add to the momentum of this overtime win.
Jacobs definitely needs the extra week to rest and heal. He sits, no brainer for me. Tuck and Robbins are banged up, Robbins moreso, some time off might help them but rust could be an issue if they get two full weeks off. maybe some first half downs?
Wouldn’t it be great to see an emergence of Bradshaw this coming Sunday? Let Ward take the majority of snaps but keep him safe and healthy and get Bradshaw the ball more than a few times, give him some confidence going into the playoffs.
Would definitely like to see some more Bradshaw. Get him some more action and ready to roll.
Maybe Tuck and Robbins for the 1 quarter or a few series? I am worried about Robbins health wise.
I think it would be pretty smart to play this game as you would the last pre-season game before the start of the season.
Give Eli, Ward, the full O-line and full D-line the first half to play as they would any other game, but limit Robbins and Tuck to just the first few series for sure.
I like Bradshaw’s speed from both a back perspective and a recieving perspective. I don’t remember the exact game, it might have been the Philly away game, but he caught a 5 yarder and exploded for the end-zone while their D was completely unprepared. It appeared to be a weapon they haven’t utilized that could be a strength in the playoffs. What do you think?
Hey Mike, can you ask around in the locker room to find out why Bradshaw spent the entire season in the dog house? This guy was the main catalyst during last season’s Superbowl run and he spent this entire season playing a mostly meaningless role. Has any reporter asked Coughlin or Gilbride about this?
As for what I would do this Sunday – play all out. Am I the only one who remembers the ass whooping the Vikes gave the Giants last year – and that was without their all-world RB. If the Giants go easy on the Vikings and they meet them again in the playoffs and get knocked off how are they going to feel if they didn’t give them their best this Sunday.
I’m with “The Ghost” We have to punch them in the mouth hard and fast!! then and only then start sending guys back to the bench for the day. These guys are no different then a Nitro dragster (300mph in a 1/4 mile! 8000 HP
You can only hold it but so long before you got to let the clutch out and burn rubber to the finsh line! You can’t hold them down! They came to play !!! We’ll pull the parachutes after the season is over and it ant over!
Oh I renamed “Boss” to “302”! Pure MUSCLECAR!
You play to win the game.
10-4 on that!
Thats what Trent Dilfer(ESPN) said last night after the Bears game!
