Spagnuolo locked out

December
31

There was a funny moment you can read a little more about in tomorrow’s story, but Steve Spagnuolo made a brief appearance today as we all stood waiting to get into the locker room.

He darted across the hall to a meeting room, declining a few humorous requests to chat.

“I gotta go to work,” Spagnuolo said while reaching to open the door.

Naturally, it was locked. That inspired a chuckle from the suddenly popular defensive coordinator who’s being formally courted now by the Jets and Browns. If the Giants had any real say in the matter, they would probably lock him in a room until the also rans hire new head coaches.

The defensive linemen finished up their get together a few minutes earlier and closed up shop for the afternoon, so he went back into the locker room after wishing everyone a happy New Year.

i would love for him to stay and be our coach after coughling but we all know that cant happen. I hope spags finds himself with a classy organization.

I really hope he doesnt go. Two reasons really.
1st…my selfishness to see him stay a Giant.

2nd… where ever he goes he will be bringing his defensive playbook. More teams will be able to read the defense easier.

Also the defense Spags runs you need to have specific types of players and i dont know if the Jets or Browns have those kinds of players. I think Spags is guaranteed to take Tommy C’s job after the current contract.
With such a wealth of players that are perfect for his system, i cant think of a good reason to leave at all.

This is my pitch to keep “Coach Stevie Spags I Love You” in Giants blue…

    PPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE stay.

    eric,

i hope he doesnt go either but we lucked out last year when he did not take the job with the redskins i dont think he will do the same espacially if the jets offer him the job. i think the jets would be a great fit for him.

selfishness as well i would love for him to stay and continue to develope this defense and take over after coughlin retires but that is not going to happen. he needs to do what is best for him and his family at this time.

i kind of disagree with you with the browns or jets not having those spag players. i agree with you that they dont however neither did the giants and to an extent they still dont, mainly the linebackers. you can see reese slowly bringing those type of players such as the terral thomas and kenny phillips type guys, who are physical and just flat out athletic. the front 4 is also like that.

i love spags to and will never forget what he has done for us the giants and the fans. if he decides to go best of luck to him. i will be rooting for his success.

I’m hoping that he would have the good sence to sit tight and wait for the big position after “tommy” calls it a day?
The Coaching staff has done a great job in finding the right core to set up this defence to roll without anyone getting out of breath. Thats a true testament to Spag’s and the whole staff! I would hope that he sees the big picture rather that $$$$$ and nowhere to have fun with it. I alway feel that if I’m not haveing fun while I’m working “F” it I’m out!! It sure does look like he’s haveing fun!!!

    colour,

you can not keep on saying no to these coaching offers. they are never gauranteed. Spags NEEDS to take either the broncos job or the jets. if he doesnt who is to say he will get another chance?

You’re right Starks!! I’ve been sleeping a long time, just woke up and found out that there is no lolalty anymore to the team that got you to where you are now!
WOW how long have I been asleep???
