I just read that Brad Van Pelt passed away today at the age of 57.

For those of us who remember him, he was a great linebacker for the Giants in the 70's and early 80's when the team was mostly pretty bad.

Though it is obviously true that Lawrence Taylor, Harry Carson, Carl Banks, etc. are credited with making the Giants a great defensive team, Van Pelt was instrumental in changing the team's strength to defense and paving the way for the championship defenses that followed. I also remember he was a terrific athlete and kicked off for the Giants for a time.

Condolences to his family.

No Sports talk on Valentine's day weekend!!! Me and the ole lady went into NYC for the weekend, you would never know there was a resesion by the droves of people walking the streets of mid-town!! Shops were busy, Restaurants had a block long wait to park!! We on the other hand took the "Beeline" from Westchester and were in mid-town in no time and walked to "B-way" were our hotel awaited us!
Cocktails at Rudy-foo's Dinner at Russo's on 7th ave, and desert at Godiva at Times sqare! The Moral never drive when you can take the Bee-line!
Hope your Valentine's day was just what you wanted!
