Ticket prices will not be going up for next season.
I know there’s a punch line in there someplace, but I’ll leave that up to you to post. Be creative. You know the economy is awful when an NFL team spends money to maintain recent success and doesn’t reach into your pocket for a couple of dollars.
Here’s the release from the Giants:
East Rutherford, N.J. – The Giants today announced the team’s 2009 ticket pricing will remain at 2008 prices.
Invoices for 2009 season tickets were sent to season ticket holders earlier this week.
The team will again price its tickets based on location. The Giants’ ticket prices for the 2009 season will be as follows:
- Sections 301-308, 314-328 and 334-340 will be $80 per seat.
- Sections 309-313 and 329-333, as well as 101-107, 115-127 and 135-140 will be $85 a seat.
- Sections 108, 114, 128 and 134 will be $90 per seat.
- Seats in sections 109, 113, 129 and 133 will be $95 apiece.
- Sections 110, 111, 112, 130, 131 and 132 will be $100 per seat.
- Mezzanine seats will be $105
The gross average price of a Giants ticket is $91.10. In 2008 that figure ranked 12th out of the 32 teams in the National Football League. Last season the NFL average was $90.69.
This is the first time since the 2000 season that there will be no increase in Giants ticket pricing.
The NFC East champion Giants will host five 2008 playoff teams this season, including conference finalists Arizona and Philadelphia, as well as Atlanta, Carolina and San Diego. The Giants will also host NFC East rivals Dallas and Washington, as well as Oakland.
The full NFL schedule will be released next month.
Now, good luck getting your hands on a ticket. Do you know a guy who knows a guy?
