Anquan Boldin

No, he’s not coming here. At least not yet. Right now, according to Arizona Republic beat reporter Kent Somers, the Cardinals are still trying to sign the handful of a wide receiver to a deal somewhere south of the $10 million average they handed his mate Larry Fitzgerald. Boldin backed off his demand to be traded, which is taken as a good sign. But the Republic reported from the owners meeting that if negotiations with agent Drew Rosenhaus go nowhere over the next month, that whole scenario could change.
All of which means the Giants would have a door open for a trade. And they’ve got the draft goods, at least, with two seconds and two fifths. They also have two third-round picks, but one of them is a compensatory pick that, by rule, cannot be traded.
General manager Rod Graves said the Cardinals haven’t put him on the trading block yet, but they’d be receptive to offers.
Here’s something else to chew on. To accommodate a new Boldin contract and, more importantly, a long-term deal for franchised linebacker Karlos Dansby, the Cards might just have to whack running back Edgerrin James. He’s clearly at the tail end of his career. But here’s the question. Would you take a flyer on him to add depth behind Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw and Danny Ware? He’d be more a replacement for Reuben Droughns than Derrick Ward, of course, since Bradshaw will conceivably take Ward’s place.
Food for thought. The floor is open.

No interest in James. With Jacobs, Ward and Ware on the team any other RB’s are going to have to contribute on special teams. James is useless in that area.
I don’t think edge would be a good fit, he isn’t a great chemistry guy which he showed by complaining all of last year that he wasn’t getting the carries he wanted, he definitely wouldn’t get enough carries in ny and his criticism of the coaches that will come in response is exactly what we should avoid
I just don’t understand what all the fuss about Anquan Boldin is about. He’s clearly a tough SOB and a fine player, but not an elite 10M per player. He’s never been a #1 either at FSU or with Arizona, and he’s missed a decent amount of time over the years with injuries. This is not to mention he publicly feuded with coaches during the SB run for a franchise having its first bright spot in about 30 years. I’d like to see JR get creative with all the draft picks, but not to bring in a veteran who wants more $$ than Tuck and Osi.
what steve and beer said. Edge isnt better than any of our RBs at this point in his career. I really think we have something with Danny Ware. I expect him to make it really hard on Bradshaw. I would also put money on it that Ware starts for us at least once in 09. I think we draft someone in the mid rds. Because we wont be able to afford Ware after 09…unless its an uncapped yr. In that case i think we can keep him at his current price? IDK, Ernie is that what will happen?
I wouldn’t take Edge in a second. All he did in Arizona is complain that he’s not starting, and we don’t need any of that, especially since there’s NO WAY he’s starting.
And beerbelly13, how you can say Anquan Boldin is not an elite 10M player is beyond me. The injury he had this year that he missed time from would have killed a lot of other people, so I’m really not too worried about his injuries.
Now the Plax is gone the money and picks are in place to make Boldin a reality. Boldin would be just as good as Plax due to the fact we have an excellent run opposed to Arizona. Play action would make him an instant threat. As far as Edge running theres no need with our triple threat and mark my words Ware will be the number 2 back a Ward clone just younger.
