Sorry for the delay. Things happen pretty quickly after the first round ends. We had Phillips on the phone, then Coughlin, Jerry Reese and Marc Ross press conferences, and deadlines on stories for the paper, including one on Jeremy Shockey still being a Giant.
Anyway, the Giants went defense/defense, actually defensive-back/defensive-back with their two picks today, [...]

Well, a lot of people got this one right. Figuring the Giants’ most obvious hole, and what was out there, it should have been simple to figure they would pick Miami free safety Kenny Phillips to replace the departed free agent Gibril Wilson.
Naturally there was speculation that the Giants might go a different way and [...]

Not saying I have any expertise on these matters, but I thought Purdue tight end Dustin Keller was a guy the Giants might want at No. 31 if they were serious about trading Shockey.
But the Jets just jumped ahead of the Giants, trading with Green Bay for the 30th pick, and took Keller

It’s pretty odd and pretty cool that we are through 12 picks in the NFL draft and only one quarterback (Matt Ryan) and one running back (Darren McFadden) have been picked.
There was a run of five defensive linemen taken among the first eight picks, then two linebackers, a corner back and the second tackle taken.
So [...]

Hi all. I’m covering the draft for Ernie today at Giants Stadium.
Lots of stuff going on here, some draft-day race, and a party in the stadium with current and former players and all that.
One thing that’s happening a lot outside is people are pulling up at the East end of the stadium and getting out [...]

Giants general manager Jerry Reese was talking about the draft today when the name of Jeremy Shockey came up.
Shockey missed the Super Bowl run because of an injury, and because the Giants ran the table without him there has been speculation about whether the Giants would trade him (and his personality).
“Right now all I can [...]

Hey Giants fans and Giants Journal readers.
I just wanted to share a couple of things I read in the Arizona Republic on the heels of Super Bowl XLII (I know the AR won’t mind, since the sports editor there, Mark Faller, used to be my boss here).
1) One of the columnists there calls the big, puffy [...]

The judges (me) have decided that the Super Bowl program for picking the correct score (nobody did) goes to Bill from NJ, who was the closest at 20-17.
I have one more program, and I’m thinking it goes to Del85 who was the first to predict a three-point victory.
Can we have some discussion on that before [...]

Wow!
Only NYC can do a parade like that. And before I critique it, I want to say something about Michael Strahan. Sometimes he can annoy you with his moods, and sometimes he seems like an attention-starved, look-at-me, I-want-a-TV-job-when-I-retire guy.
But having seen him up close for these last five weeks, I get this about him, aside [...]

The scene in the hotel restaurant/bar is pretty cool. Lots of Giants jerseys in there, and all the TVs are showing either ESPN or NFL Network highlights, and every single time anything positive happens in the highlights the place erupts into cheering all over again.
I did see a few fans who might have had a [...]
